We moved a lovely bee swarm this morning. We collected them in a box and brought them home to our farm and set a Warre-type hive up. We put a shingle up to the entrance at the front door of the hive so the could walk in, then we tipped them out of the box onto a tablecloth (didn't want to lose any in the grass!). Soon as they were on the ground they all started marching up the walkway and into the hive. It's a gentle way to move them into a hive. Dear little creatures they are.
Visit our farm site, we offer organic and biodynamic bee classes. http://www.FriendlyHaven.com

  • We moved this swarm from a tree where they were waiting, looking for a new home. Brought them home, gave them a nice new hive on our organic farm. They seem quite happy.
