Did you know that Moustaki initially asked Serge Reggiani to sing this? Can you immagine Reggiani singing ''avec ma guele de meteque''?! I don't, and neither did he. So, I guess this is the first time I'll have to say that I prefer Moustaki for this particular song. And, nevertheless, I am just curious: what would it sound like in Reggiani's interpretation? Then, if Moustaki chose to sing this in Italian, perhaps Reggiani could have give it a try in French...

so when I hear a new song I am captivated by its lyrics first of all and then by a good interpretation.....Moustaki has a dreamy voice love his songs.

Wouldn't have been great though.... to hear Reggiani's interpretation!

Lyrics, music and interpretation are just parts of a whole, that is, the song, so I highly appreciate those 'products' which put all these elements together, in harmony. This is why I prefer Moustaki, the song-writer, Reggiani, the singer(-actor-writer) and the 'team' Moustaki/Reggiani for the whole equation:

song=lyrics+music+interpretati­on. Perhaps, it is worth listening to Moustaki's songs in Reggiani's interpretation: 'Sarah', 'Ma liberte', 'Ma solitude'. Nothing to lose. On the contrary.
