@Alexsuper15 Joe knocked Ali down in the 15th round of their first fight in 1971. Ali got up to finish but that knockdown blew the candles off the cake for Ali and Joe retained the title on a unanimous decision. Great fight.

Didnt ali got KOed by joe frazier???

The sad thing about all this is, the way Tyson came on the scene, he could have and had the potential and skills to be the greatest ever. Too many bad people around him, too many people fucked him over, slut bitches and hoes like robin givens and desiree washington and the bitch he married when he first got out of prison to name a few, and crooks/ assholes like Don King and John Horne.

Tyson didnt have the heart and conditioning and mental toughness Ali had. People fail to remember and mention, one of the greatest traits of Ali was that he could take a punch better than any fighter. Ali had the mind, the skills and the footwork to beat Tyson. He had the best conditioning program in boxing. Who else fought 12 rds with a broken jaw? How many fighters yall know can wait until 2 wks before a fight to train and still win or take the fight to a split decision?

Tyson was one of the greatest champions ever, in the top 5. He fought bums though. In his prime, 1985-1989, who did Tyson beat that was prominent? Spinks? Holmes?
Bonecrusher? All were old and were afraid of him. Look at the level of competition Ali fought and defeated. Ali was NEVER knocked out in his career. Earnie Shavers, Ken Norton, Joe Frazier, Sonny Liston, George Foreman, Ron Lyle, Jimmy Young, etc. Thats competition. There is no well in hell Tyson would have beaten Ali.

OK, let me clean this up. George Foreman took several left hooks from Joe Frazier, but he ate em up and dished it back, and was able to defeat frazier easily 2wice. He was bigger, and stronger. Same applies to his fight with Ken Norton. Norton wasnt a fighter who could take a punch well, thats why he got knocked out so much. As far as Tyson and Ali goes, Tyson was an assassin but look at the level of competition he beat versus when he fought true champions like Holyfield and Lennox Lewis.
-
Tyson lost due to drug usage and partying in Japan and a loss of direction later on in life after Cus died.
-
wtf is this even a debate???? Tyson would never beat Ali. Tyson didn't have heart and toughness Ali had. Ali beat Frazier, Liston, and Foreman, 3 all time greatest heavyweights. Sure Tyson faced all time greatest heavyweights like Holyfield and Lewis, but he got knocked out by both of them.

The post-fight interview shows Foreman was clearly on his way downhill mentally, a trip that would hit bottom vs Jimmy Young.
using 'rope a dope' is not an easy feat at all. have u ever boxed? laying on the ropes can be suicide against a banger like foreman. foreman had 5 opponents 2 worry about. he didn't want 2 risk punching himself out. one reason why this tactic had more success with george was coz he threw wide punches. someone like tyson who had threw shorter and more accurate would have destroyed ali on the ropes, but ali would prob just do something else to mess tyson up, lol. that's why ali was the greatest.

I agree with most of your post, but one needs to remember Tyson was KO'd, - Knocked Out - in his prime against one Buster Douglas (where as Clay/Ali never lost during his prime) I admire Tyson's skill in the ring, but still feel that a vintage Muhammad Ali/Cassius Clay would win over a vintage Mike Tyson.
