  • Is high density planting good in the long run? I was just wondering... what is your opinion on the close spacing of the trees? air circulation probs? root competition probs? diseases easily spread? etc... Sounds like it's good for the employees, but what abt for the trees?

  • This is like a vineyard. Grapes natural habit is to sprawl, yet we attach them to wires and prune heavy in winter. The best trees for this method are semi-dwarfs, which naturally stay smaller.

  • @greatkeyboardwarrior sounds good man

  • can you trans metres and mm? wheres youre trees?

  • @betterworld1 I plant my trees 5 metres apart, dig hole 500mm deep fill with quality organic soil, mulch 100mm high by 1.5 around tree, water only when needed, prune in winter. thin out fruit at young stage to allow smaller amount of fruit to grow large. spray trees with organic sprays when needed. fertilize in spring, pick fruit when ripe not green.basically look after the tree first and the fruit will be sweet, nutritious and organic. I have 100 mixed fruit trees that im very happy with.

  • @greatkeyboardwarrior so how do you make good fruit?

  • this is about maximising yeilds per acre, just pump the trees full of water and they will produce lots of fruit . lots of tasteless unnutritious fruit. ever had a hydroponic fruit?, they taste like cardboard.

  • Hello

I don't know everything is know about planting in fact I'm relatively new. I called some nurseries when I was going to start my backyard orchard.

And two of them said to me to plant the dwarf trees are purchased that they would require upwards to 10 feet apart there was another site that was telling me you could plant trees 18 to 21 inches apart.

I just like to know would it affect the quality or the longevity of the tree

    thank you

  • I have an achre of land and two shares of the h20 co. Where should I start? I've wanted to do this for some time; just when I get going, 6" snow melts all I have done. I'm in socal: calimesa at the county line. I have roses, parsimon, walnut, weird berries, grapes and tangelos! I also have to endure 120+ degree summers :(

  • can tractor get in between the rows or the distance between each row is five foot also ?

  • Thanks!
