Part 2 of 5 of Nutnfancy's Tabletop Review and Philosophy of Use with the Sig P226 pistol:
An outstanding pistol design, the Sig P226 is truly an amazing and well-proven gun. It stacks up quite well against Nutnfancy's standard of 9mm pistol measure, the also-excellent Glock 17. Though accepted reluctantly by the American civilian shooter it became an embraced and beloved handgun as it was proven in the hands of the Navy SEALs and with hundreds of law enforcement agencies. That is because, indeed, it is a world class design offering complete reliability, amazing accuracy, toughness, excellent firepower, outstanding ergonomics, and a superb trigger. Many liken the Sig P226 to a Swiss Watch and thats a fair comparison; it is a mechanically efficient and beautiful design. But how does it stack against the Glock 17? Truth be told (and it is here), the Glock holds edges in absolute durability, weight (big advantage at 8 oz), simplicity of operation and parts, firepower, and price but in some cases the advantage is slight. However Nutnfancy maintains both are near equals in terms of reliability, accuracy, ergonomics (very subjective for everyone), and track record. But the Sig for many holds an endearing attraction that is hard to define and quantify. You have to shoot and hold one to understand it. It inspires confidencethat most critical attribute needed for effective combat handgunnery. And for many, that confidence is the tie breaker that makes the Sig their preferred choice in defensive/offensive handguns. It is often called the worlds best pistol.

  • 5000 rounds Challenge accepted

  • Uhhh hmmm my wifes xd9 has WELL over 6k rounds on it my G23 gen 4 is less than 4 months old and has about 1270 rounds on it (decided to keep a log on this one) 200 rounds will go downrange this weekend. I do run a gunshop and belong to a range/club but I think the average gun owner probably shoots 3-6 times a year probably a few hundred rounds...the average avid gun enthusiast probably shoots 600-2000+ a year pistol and untolf boatloads of rimfire and rifle so if you average it I'd say a gun sh

  • Also, what if u forgot to rack it, what is your wife gonna do then??? I think both u and your wife are better off rocking a revolver

  • @pfiberoptik ,I had a sigma in .40 very snappy, didn't care for it, different strokes man

  • I seriously disagree that 99% of handgun owners won't get to 5000 rounds, or at least it's certainly not as extreme as shooting once every two years. If that was the case then every Walmart around me wouldn't sell out of ammo almost as soon as it gets it. People love to shoot, not just those in the military. My local gun store is busy almost every night of the week and so is my local range.

All you have to do to fire a SIG is pull the trigger, the decocker doesn't interfere with firing in any way shape or form. I think you need to re-evaluate what you said.

  • Glock and Sigma 40 all day long for me. Love my Sigma 40 (and the price) more than my old Glock 17. The passive safety (or lack thereof) makes the Glock/Sigma design superior IMO. I always tell my wife - who is a reluctant shooter- that in an emergency "JUST PULL THE TRIGGER." No friggin safety levers, decockers...nothing. This is THE design for a nightstand gun for that very reason.

    Again, just IMO...nice video informative.

  • I think it's important to note; When I was in afghanistan we had some British security "consultants" for diplomats on our bases who all were issued Glock 17s. They had told me that the reliability was greatly brought down by the durability of the lower. One said he had broken the plastic on three different pistols. So steel frame wins out in my mind.

  • I appreciate your video reviews. You really know your stuff!

  • typical handgun owner? i've been out to the range twice in the past 2 weeks. oh i'll eventually get to 5000.
