914 i musch lighter than a 911.all of this cars are heavily moded, and basically, to run in the same class you must qualify. i have a friend who put a 6 cyl 911 engine on a 914, and wow. nothing comes close to it.

HMMM This comment of mine took a while to be replied at. Anyway its clear to me now! But Power to weight ratio isnt really a stellar trait of the 914.

SIPLE, ITS POWER TO WEIGHT RATIO

How the heck does a 914 Keep up with the CTR and the 930s? I presume its modded.

Great driving. I bet when you eventually notice the windscreen wiper, you'd go nuts not being able to stop thinking about it.

I should add that the skies opened up just before the call to grid. Anticipating a late breaking weather, we had the car up on jack stands so we had time to slap on the Michelin rains, disconnect the sway bars, and turn down the dampers. Great fun!

I'm pretty sure it's up to the driver rather than the car... with its power, the Ruf should be at an even bigger disadvantage in the rain.

As a former rally driver and ice racer, I do enjoy the rain, but I can't take any of the credit. You are right, that with so much torque on tap, you've got to be a master of the throttle, but the big advantage at this race was set up. The RUF CTR2sport was/is a street legal production car running as delivered. Its street sport suspension, though firm, is more compliant than the stiffly sprung race cars it was racing against.
