In the Secret Annex, the people in hiding could hear the Wester Church sound every fifteen minutes. Especially at night, the sound of the ringing church bells was reassuring to Anne. On 11 July 1942 Anne Frank wrote in her diary: Father, Mother and Margot still can't get used to the chiming of the Westertoren clock, which tells us the time every quarter of an hour. Not me, I liked it from the start; it sounds so reassuring, especially at night. The recording on this video is from 1960.

  • I love the sounds of the church, I have no idea why Anne's Family don't like the bells, and I have no idea why people hates vampires that sparkle, but not me, i like it. The sound of the bells makes me feel calm.

  • I'v seen this and heared it live

its so pretty I love it

  • i can see how those sounds would be reassurring

    calming

knowing that you will hear them

a safe kind of sound :)

  • What a good feeling it is for me to feel as hear the bells of the Wester Church. Brings me back to 65 years or from the age of 0 (?) to 27 when I lived in Verdun, a a suburb of Montreal, Canada.

I've made that video a favorite

    Take good care from Jack
