PLEASE READ FIRST! These cops abused and ridiculed a fallen disabled Myasthenic woman - me - for over 45 minutes. I had already called an ambulance. I fell couldn't get up, was kicked and handcuffed then ridiculed. At this point of the morning I was hysterically crying, desperate to find someone who understood my disease and after explaining it for that long, couldn't even do that anymore! Who wouldn't be upset? The Police and EMTs were ignorant about my potentially life threatening disability, Myasthenia Gravis (MG)! They might have killed me. Myasthenia Gravis (MG) means grave muscle weakness, it is an auto-immune disease which effects voluntary muscles i.e. limbs, eyes, lungs...symtpoms mimic intoxication. MG is rare but also one of the most under-diagnosed diseases. For more information see the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation website. Again- I fell due to MG at the officers feet and couldn't get up, though I had already called -I asked these cops for an ambulance at least ten times, I said the name of my disease about 80 times. I explained it repeatedly. The EMTs were also ignorant and in no rush to provide me emergency medical care. The first EMTs ignored me completely and later slandered me! I had been in remission for over 2 years. My symptoms were excerbated from Stress/my nasty neighbors. These "professionals" increased my stress and put me at further risk of Myasthenic crisis. I was scared!!!!
BTW- the cop abuse was because of ignorance and the nasty neighbors (who even admitted peeing on my door to this officer - see other videos)!!! These officers not only ignored my pleas for medical care, they ignored my legitimate harassment complaints; ignored the fact that I spent the week trying to save my life and get an order of protection from those people, they ignored the fact that I had told them 1F always manipulates the police. These officers believed the nasty neighbors(1F); judged me; and even let the 1F crew join in their ridicule, take photos and video me. It was worse - over one-hour of actual video footage with audio in ten minute clips coming soon...

June is MG awareness month. Please take part, don't let this happen to another Myasthenic.

  • I'm an EMT myself and I'll honestly say that this is the first time I've heard of Myasthenia Gravis. Everytime I hear something I've never heard of I research it. That's how I learn the best. I am so sorry this happened to you though. Instead of the EMT being abusive like that, she should have listening to you and looked into it more. My job is being there for people and understanding them. For one thing I think you need to get a lawyer so you can get justice from what they did. Good luck. :)

  • I am a 26 yr old black male from Chicago and I have MG, whenever confronted or near police (or anybody in general) they treat me as if I am some sort of high druggie, when I have a really bad case of droopiness and I do not use the Mestinon because I can't afford it... Everywhere I go people look and stare, i always hear people saying things like "look at that dude... he's super high" I am tired of this true ignorance and stupidity

  • One thing that people need to realize is that EMS classes do not cover a multitude of chronic conditions. By repeating "myasthenia gravis" over and over, it doesn't help the EMS providers to know anything more- and really comes off as a bit uncooperative in a way- because it seems to now be the answer to everything. I know your intention was to get help- but sometimes you have to help yourself as well- by calmly explaining your situation to people.

  • This video made me cry. my biggest fear in life is that i will need help from an emt and they wont know that I have MG because i cant tell them or they just wont know what im talking about and give me meds that could kill me. This is a very reall fear and I'm happy you posted this so that people can be aware of the real danger of not knowing about MG.

  • Hmmm... I wonder if it is more likely that I pronounce the word, "someone," without the, "S," or that I experienced a typo, after failing to hit the, "S," key. Fact: While my I.Q. is surely at least 60 points higher than yours, you are undoubtedly better suited to work as a secretary.

  • "This is omeone..."

    Fucking moron.

  • @BlameRepublicans Pay no attention to BlameRepublicans. This is omeone who can't win an argument because he or she isn't smart enough to pick the right side in the first place.

  • @waleswatcher Do you wear a bracelet that says "I'm a stupid fuck, please take me to the nearest glory hole ASAP."? Well - you should. Per haps get it tattooed to your forehead.

  • I sympathize with the plight of everyone with this condition, and I'm sure that some of you have already done something like this, but how about a bracelet etched with information, including, "myasthenia(D0T)org, along with a card in your wallet explaining MG?

  • My father is currently in the hospital being treated for what started out as an MG breathing crisis 3 months ago. He's been in the hospital since, making frequent trips to ICU, coded twice, and has been intebated 3 times. He's in ICU right now(10-18-10)for a week, and isn't a victim of his MG, but is a victim of crappy doctors. We are trapped at Lourdes Hospital and we cannot afford to send him to somewhere competent like Ochsner in NOLA. The doctors tending to him now are killing him. Help.

  • I had to turn this off. I had a similar experience, and they even found out from my emergency number that I had MG. The police and EMT's thought I was acting like a Sissy or something, and wouldn't believe that I had to be in a certain position to be able to breath. I hope this video increases awareness of Myasthenia Gravis.

  • this is a muscles weakness very like fibromyalgia in a way... and sorry lady we are not doctors even they have to consult other fellows or a book, nobody knows all, sad is in the field you dnt have time to grab a book, and you cant be aware of all diseases. the making fun of you part is tottally wrong they were unprofessional and in humane i apologize as a paramedic myself
