I find it depressing how most people got here but I guess that just means I am old and they are young. Her song rings true for my generation - not so sure about this one. I was an ugly girl at 17, actually I wasn't but I felt it. She is singing about that perception, based on the pecking order of social stuff: parties, boys etc. We get past it but it hurts like hell in those crucial years. At least she recognised she was an ugly duckling - beautiful swan.

This is one song that stops me in my tracks when I hear it , some how,some way, It just rings true to me..I am a man of course, but as a kid..although I wouldnt say I was ugly, but so awkward, troubled ,with a dysfunctional family..it does a lot to young boy or girl..To fight through it..is what makes you,or breaks you..God Bless.
