In case any one stumbles across this while trying to learn to shoulder hoop, I'll post a few points that helped me tremendously. I can do this much better now.
1. Get a heavy hoop. There's more contact, and you'll feel much more in control.
2. Concentrate on a left-right-left-right rythm.
3. TURN in the same direction as the hoop. Just like waist and hip hooping, this will help to keep things moving.
4. It helps to round your back and front as the hoop swings around to those points.
thanks for the pointers! i've been trying to get shoulder hooping down and i just can't seem to do it. i'll keep these tips in mind when i practice tonight.
