@SuperWarriorMullet I'm sorry...you're not serious...or are you? I respect your right, as a matter of personal taste, to challenge the use of 'baby', but I just don't get it. It just plain 'works' for me, it isn't demeaning or derogatory, and is an accepted term of great affection. Anyway...just try to substitute your choice in all of the great songs that have 'baby' in the lyrics. I think you'll see what I mean.

This is the cleanest copy I have. If I ever find a better copy I'll post it. Do you click the HQ button when you watch videos? With exception of a little surface noise this is a pretty good sounding copy

Great song but why is that in most Doowop songs guys say baby? Why not my lovin lady or woman?

Baby was common slang in the 50s, just like baby girl was in the 70s and is now. Baby seems easier to fit into doo wop lyrics. Doo wop has relatively simple beat and melody progressions. Because of this doo wop usually gets right to the point
