This was clipped from the 1959 film, Asbestos a matter of time, by the US Bureau of Mines, Department of the Interior. For more information about asbestos, asbestos-related diseases and ways to help protect yourself, family and friends from this deadly mineral, link to the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) founded in 2004 by asbestos victims and their families. ADAO seeks to give asbestos victims and concerned citizens a united voice to help ensure their rights are fairly represented and protected, while raising public awareness about the dangers of asbestos exposure and often deadly asbestos related diseases. ADAO is an independent organization that can be found at

  • You know today they still make asbestos in break pads, that is why when ever you see a white car, van or truck, look closely like on the back where the license plate is. Those little brown spots are NOT rust! That is the effect from asbestos!

  • @polakmax Asbestos dissolved in water actually isn't really very dangerous.

  • ...and remember: Asbestos is all natural, mined from the good earth, so it's good for you too.

  • @StMeade In the air. Realize, this is in brake pads and well... if you are ever on a highway or a road you are breathing in asbestos. They still haven't banned this shit because there's too much $ behind it.

  • Asbestos would be perfect if it were harmless when inhaled.

  • I want colorful asbestos siding, Screw the health effects.

at 1:25 they show a metal roof (something that actually lasts) being replaced and "beautifying" said house. No.

The roof is the last place to have a product that will slowly break apart in air-borne and water soluable particles due to rain, wind, and sun. Yuck. And their products didn't look good. Even today you can find asbestos sided houses, but often the panels are chipped or broken. Where did the pieces end up?

  • @sincityfire

Too bad that has harmful effects aswell. Look it up.

Asbestos is fireproof, does not conduct electricity, great insulation properties, cheap and easy to produce. Now if you do not see how that would contribute to better living or enhancing peoples lives I`m sorry. Unfortunately that was before the average American knew of the dangers.

Little Johnny wouldn`t die as long as the asbestos was not crushed. Its the dust that kills you. Besides Johnny has a better chance of getting hit by a car then developing meso.

  • its so ironic what they say:

How does it contribute to better living?

How does it enhance our lives?

Even old houses can have the same benifits

AND...Little Johnny is going to die

  • Thank god we now use plastic, Silicone and Carbon fiber.
