An awesome Super Metroid medley, performed by the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra at Orchestral Game Concert #4 (1994). A worthy tribute to what is considered by many to be one of the greatest games of all time. Super Metroid took Metroid's ideas and took them to a new level. It has impeccable level design, and should be considered as 2D gaming design at its finest.

The medley is structured as follows:

Theme of Samus Aran (0:00-2:08)
Crateria (2:09-2:41)
Brinstar Green Vegetation (2:42-4:00)
Brinstar Red Soil (4:01-5:39)
Super Metroid Ending Theme (5:40-8:05)

The orchestrated take on 'Brinstar - Green Vegetation' is my favourite bit. The climax at (3:37-3:57) is incredibly powerful.

The eye popping Super Metroid HD mock-up is done by Alchemist Defined, whose website you can find at http://alchemistdefined.wiredotaku.com. The artist deserves huge props for this. Super Metroid HD may never come into fruition (perhaps rightly so -- Nintendo shouldn't go the way of say, SquareEnix), so this picture is as close as you'll probably ever get to a remake.

  • 12 ppl are deaf/clicked the wrong button by accident

  • The best theme of any character, just the sound of it you feel like you are ducking and weaving through an alien pace, killing Space Pirates. You can't help but feel your hair stand up, and your pulse quicken.

  • @fandangobaha Yeah, I still kinda tear up when I get done beating this game, even though I've done it literally hundreds of times.

  • @omegametroid37 or actually played Metroid: Other M.

  • To address the Other M talk going on below - it's not her having emotions that sucks, it's that it gave her the wrong ones and had her express them all wrong. Rather than a strong assertive person with internal problems as a result of her history, she's a shrinking violet who gets bossed around and cries when betrayed by her boss... and she panics when confronted with an enemy that she's killed two or three times before that.

(The gameplay kind of sucked too. But that's another can of worms.)

  • @cowhobozrule This response made me lol. Hard.

  • I miss Super Metroid, stupid nintendo is killing everything
