Wow... now I better understand where some of Oscar's greatness was influenced from

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I was just trying to be of assistance.

I have this tape from at least 20 years ago. You must have misunderstood my comment tp "plimbuff" below, in answer to his request for information on "A Mistery (sic) for Jazz."

From the "Mingus at Antibes" liner notes:
Bud Powell — piano
Charles Mingus — bass
Ted Curson — trumpet
Eric Dolphy — alto sax
Booker Ervin — tenor sax
Dannie Richmond — drums
-
my favorite jazz pianists of all time would have to be bud powell and mccoy tyner.

antibes is a great record, bud's chorus on
'i'll remember april " ..superb.'' magic band

I had no idea this concert had been filmed. I'd give my eye teeth to see Mingus and his band perform his set, which contains some of the wildest stuff he ever did.

Oh man that was insane! Dig those jacktars in their dixie cups!
OMG! I cannot believe this was taped on video! It's from a Mingus album titled "Mingus at Antibes." Bud sat in for 'I'll Remember April' and took about 20 choruses (o: No doubt Mingus let Bud do whatever the hell he wanted 'cause he respected Bud so much. I used to listen to this track 10 x a day when I was a kid and Bud's solo had a profound effect on my own playing. It's a real treat to be able to put a picture to it and be able to actually SEE it. Thank You mrc for posting this one (o:
