The "Kelvin water dropper", invented by Lord Kelvin (1867), is a type of electrostatic generator. Falling water drops generate voltage differences by + feedback and the electrostatic induction occurring between interconnected, oppositely charged systems.

  • No problem ;)

my Kelvin Generator does not work =( =( =(

  • @RebelOfTheTruth Hey, try placing the metal rings at the point where the water begins to break into droplets. Maybe about 7-9 inches from the exit point? That's the key my friend! Also, nothing can be conductive except the rings and wires only. See how I used plastic straws and tape to hold everything in place.

  • I want to make the first car that runs on power that anyone can get

  • How much power does it generate? I'm trying to prove to my mom that I can make an alternative car engine.

  • can u put this in a lake

  • @ch0k0y3y You should be able to use ANY wire or material that conducts electricity. I imagine even aluminum foil would work?

  • @ch0k0y3y Great questions! I haven't experimented on how to do that. I thought possibly a capacitor could be attached to store the charge over time? What ever the case, this little current may be enough to power an LED, but I imagine it's far to small to effect any type of light bulb. Let me know what you find out? Maybe the technique could be applied to collecting charge before a lightning strike?

  • Great job !! The best home made working Kelvin water droplet ...I have seen yet on youtube!

  • @01032010814 Hi, thanks...thanks my friend =)

My english is not so good sry... I am from Germany but I have google translator ;):D

okay... I revised my Kelvin Generator :)
