@lindebr No, they were put on correctly. it's a simple trick, when the handcuffs are being put on, tighten your forearm. then to escape completely relax your arm. It still hurts but you can rotate

@givmedew I banged the cuffs against the wall in order to disengage the secondary lock. Until that pin is out of the way it can't be shimmed

Try these with a pair of Smith&?Wesson model 300s. I guarantee the slam trick won't disengage the double lock.

The handcuffs were not tight enough, as he was able to rotate his wrists. If they were properly done, even defeating the double lock, he wouldn't have been able to shim the lock.

Also goes to show if your serious about defeating cuffs in real life you need to carry a real cuff key and a shim stored separately from the cuff key and you must practice. I also like the practice techniques for defeating most zip based ties but again if LE is supervising no chance!

He used a shim which isn't supposed to work because he shouldn't be able to rotate the cuff inwards but obviously he did. I am guessing it was a nice thin and strong shim maybe even lubricated with a decent sized square at the end to allow him to put enough pressure on it without cutting himself. I am not sure why he banged on the cuffs maybe to set the teeth in the middle of the ridges so he had more room for the shim. Nice job especially for first time. Shows LE that you must supervise anyon
