I love the Pet Shop Boys rendition, but Liza's is so too the point and a more realistic interpretation.

This is a phenomenal cover. I have the CD, and the first time I heard this, knowing the original Pet Shop Boys song well, I just could not believe how good it was. Liza captures all the pathos and the underlying emotional cost of the lifestyle implied in the lyrics. She, also, captures the reality of a person who would willingly pay the price to live that life, for it is the only one to live for some people. She nails this song!

I must say, this is a TRULY BEAUTIFUL cover. I LOVE IT !
It's as the appeal of a Shirley Basset song and the dept. of a song from Barbara Streisand song with the youth and vitality of all the modern day girls of today.
...pink,christina aguilera, Adel, Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys and the rest !

Love her interpretation of this Pet Shop Boys classic. Both are great, in their own ways. Liza's for it's hauntingly sad devastating aftermath, and the Pet Shop Boys for their "new to this", hope this works out, naivete'. 2 distinct styles that compliment the lyrics.
