Here's a quick way, and a sure fire way to tell if the cylinder head is bad.

  • you need to remove the schrader valve in your compression tester hose if equipped!!

  • @grjr 50lbs to 100lbs should work. It depends on your gear and the type of coolant system.

  • @8LowRider2 80lbs should do the trick nicely. You have a lot of coolant to displace until the radiator leaks like you saw. Around 100lbs and you should see the coolant splurt out nicely for this test. Good luck.

  • @wc4pwned well you can inspect it after you take it down, cuz if it does that, it's clearly you have a problem and either gasket or crack you still have to take the head down...

  • What if the cylinder wall of that cylinder is cracked? Wouldn't it give the same symptoms?
