My personal 'test' for a GREAT tenor voice:~ How rapidly does the hearing of same cause Una Furtiva Lagrima [A Secret Tear] to descend and the throat to constrict in exquisite discomfort, whilst a gallimaufry of weird emotions come welling to the surface, driven into feverish confusion as that voice weaves its particular MAGIC. For ME it's Caruso, Gigli, Del Monaco & LANZA, for sheer energy & POWER. ML causes me to 'suffer' the above VERY quickly! Thankyou, THANKYOU GOD, for GREAT voices. Amen.

Lanza does sing this beautifully.... But the MOST beautiful recording I ever heard of it was done by the greatest Tenor I know of... Fritz Wunderlich.

there is a passion in marios voice that no other tenor has...i love caruso and pavorotti but lanza is from another world...simply amazing and beautiful

Wowzers. This song really did give me chills. What a powerful voice, but also amazing style that really coulnd't be imitated by any singer. I think this is the best or one of the best Lanza songs ever. This man sang from the heart, technique came second, but who gives a f***. Id rather hear a singer like this over a technical singer ANY DAY. What a shame he died so young.
