Battle 3 in this ongoing chapter of tank PVP history being made in ArmA 2.
In this battle we are one week into Operation Desert Storm - the date is February 24th, 1991. United States on BLUFOR side is advancing deeply into Iraq territory. USMC's / U.S. Army's mission is to seize control of these areas. The Iraq Republican Guard's mission on REDFOR side is to stop them in their tracks. The battle was fought on a huge, open and sandy desert map named Tropica, with a long view distance; perfect for tank battles.
This footage shows USMC / U.S. Army footage of three M1A1 Abrams tanks (Lead, Alfa & Bravo) manned by Unit19 crews (tank mil-sim group), and six M60 Patton tanks manned by participating groups and individuals, fighting three T72's and six T62's from the Iraq Republican Guard, which were also human players.
This was the first deployment after the group Unit19 was discontinued, but the group members all came together - to fight together, to remember the name and to honour the spirit Unit19 stood for: professionalism and fun, together with people from all over the world.
In battle 3, the sides were as follows:

SPECIAL THANKS TO The Lost Brothers
"The units used on this battle were made by The Lost Brothers modding team, as a part of a Desert Storm mod. The mod, that is currently on an update, has more that 50 vehicles and 50 infantry, most of them with custom models and textures. Some vehicles are BI retextured. They have the US Army and USMC; Iraqi Republican Guard and Saudi Arabia and Qatar armed forces, all with gear and uniforms back in 1991, and based on real military photos and documents."

What is Rolling Thunder?
Rolling Thunder is an ArmA2 PVP (player vs player) event in which large scale tank battles are simulated. Rolling Thunder is for those who always wanted to participate in such an event, but never found the people to play together with, if not to play such a gametype in a more organized large scale environment.
The RT battles are standalone and take place occasionally. For each battle there are new registrations. This means that the battles are easy accessible and less demanding/time consuming for the players compared to the more common PVP community campaigns/series. The Rolling Thunder participants vary from armor gameplay newcomers to professional tank combat simulation gamers all with the aim to have tactical, teamwork orientated, well organized and enjoyable battles.
If you would like to participle in these highly immersive and combined tank operations, then make sure to sign up for the next battle!

couple of thing just small real life about the battle your reenacting. all engagements were at over a mile on all most flat Terran, the enemy was dug-in and one m1a1 got hit in the tracks next to my brothers tank but they think it was a mind. and the m-60 was used as a back up or kuwait tank. and the m1a1 abrams do not run they rush. butts thats if your trying to do the real thing :) but looks cool I would love to try. I will look you up. Greatest Tank Battles - Desert Storm lookup
