You have to keep particulates from clogging your counterflow or plate chiller. Therefore, it's a good idea to keep hops and hot break inside the kettle when draining. The commercial solution is over $50 but the materials should cost less than $15. This is a time consuming, but satisfying do it yourself project.

  • I had trouble with a 10oz mix of leaf and pellet but other who have copied this design have had great success. I found out that I have a slight leak in my drain system so the pump was sucking air and losing siphon. I have to fix that before I know.

  • When do I get to come over for a tasting session???

  • When I have some heavy lifting to do around here... or any other time.

  • Good catch. It's pretty common of me to make a goofy mistake like that when I'm trying not to say um, um, um ever 2 minutes. 1 square foot was what I meant to say and then I thought, hey, inches sounds better.

  • Dell keyboard is made by Dell.

  • so how did the 30x30 mesh work for the pellet hopps?

  • Great video. After creating a couple of these things, what would you say is the optimum mesh size?

  • I came back to this video to see if you updated your comments after trying some pellets, do pellets clog the mesh?

  • So how does it work? I am interested in your design and plan to make one in the coming weeks. I noticed you found the first one you built to be too small a mesh size. Is the 30 30 mesh size big/small enough to do the job and be cleaned easily? thanks for your response.

  • I see...so I'm just a strong back for hire! Seriously, let's all get together soon!
