Hi just wondering if u could explain discharging of caps.what's the best way? I hear a screwdriver across the terminals but which ones? And does the screwdriver need to b insulated or can u use a regular one

@kj7ym I'm not really sure about your question. A dual capacitor is already used as two independent run capacitors. If you mean to use two independent run capacitors for the compressor and the fan motor then it is a bit different. The fan motor will use it's own run cap and the wiring can be different. It all depends on if you're using a 3 wire or 4 wire configuration.

Is there any way to check a capacitor without a capacitance tester? I think the one in my a/c unit may be going bad.

@Billyboy7908 A capacitance tester is only one way to tell is the run cap is bad. It's best to just replace it if you feel that it could be bad.
