A slideshow of old postcard scenes from High Street King's Heath. The first section shows images from the steam tram era (1887 to December 1906). The second section shows the street after tramway electrification, with overhead cables evident in many of the pictures (1907 to 1949).
I would like to hear from anyone who remembers Adrian Cottages and Hoddesdon Place. Lost locations off High Street - in the area now part of Asda (formerly Somerfield) car park.
Do any Pictures exist of the old TA Depot c1908, down that Culdersac, in between Institute & Drayton Rds. There is a 70's looking church on the site now.
Thanks for your comment. The cul-de-sac between Institute Road and Drayton Road is called Kingsfield Road. I am only aware of Kingsfield House on that land prior to the building of the catholic church. Can you tell me any more about the TA depot c1908 and I will look for images. The TA Barracks were in Mossfield Road from the 1930s.
@9teen48 My Grandpa's Sqdn. of the QOWH was based @ the TA centre in KH c1908. I was told it was on the Land of where the church is today in "Kingsfield Road". But they might of been mistaken, & you might be right in saying the TA centre was in "Mossfield Road". Was it there Pre 1930!? If so then you are right, if this is the case, please forward on any Pics. of the KH TA centre -1930+ As I have tried the B'um library, & the New KH TA centre to No avail!
