Now You tell me that the guy in the company who steals your parents retirment and forces them into poverty or makes them work till they die who gets 2 years can not be considered a "violent crime" but the guy getting 20 years because it was a "violent crime but put your parents out of just the money in the register. Politions write the laws to steal more and do less time if caught. The guy who stole the retirment money should be getting 20 years!!!!! But they will probably get only probation!!

That is the most inteligent thing I have heard. With great power comes great resposablity. I see government and companys weld ALOT of power without almost ANY responcablity.Rules SHOULD apply 3 fold to those who have the power to abuse. Ever notice the difference between white colar crime and all other crimes? People in power can steal your retirment money your life savings and insure you work till you die but you steal $20 from a liquer store. One guy gets 2 years the other 20.

I wasn't saying that...BUT since the Canadian alliance, Progressive Conservatives and Reform Party all merged there is tremendous pressure on the other side to also do so. It isn't fair that we have 1 party that fills everything from centre to far right and (potentially) 4 parties for centre to far left. With so many parties we need popular votes and coalitions (it works in Europe so why not here?).

Imagine honesty in Government? IF you dont have God and a coviction to be moral, what keeps one into check. If it feels good do it?

My analogy was simply that the mistakes of the Catholic Church (the worst of which were actually political or social mistakes enacted by people who hid behind religion as a way of dodging their responsibility) are so often used as an argument against the group itself, despite the fact that the vast majority of the group are caring, well intentioned people.

Of course, that doesn't mean that they SHOULD have politicial influence in modern society, only that one argument against them is weak.
