I checked those stastics and they are all wrong so yes, TOOHEY TAKE THAT BEER BOOTLE OUT OF YOUR ASS BECAUSE YOUR TALKING SHITE!!! Also how can AFL be popular in Tassie when there is'nt even an AFL team there. YES TOOHEY MORE BULLSHIT!!!
AFL does'nt have a team outside of Australia does it. NZ love league and union. Which has a population of 4 million. No gayfl there. League is played in the UK too. NRL is expanding to with a team Perth in 2015 as well as QLd so not sure how AFL will take over.

@NRL1st lol all my statistics were correct. So are these:
Sydney Swans 2011 Members: 27,000
Melbourne Storm 2011 Members: 10,000
Sydney FC 2010/11 Members: 7000
So no, Melbourne Storm do not have a larger following than the Swans as you've suggested, nor do Sydney FC.
AFL is the most popular sport in Victoria, SA, WA, Tassie, and NT. And will be in QLD within 5 years.
Who's taking statistics out of their arse?

@NRL1st Rugby is a terrible sport, no skill in it apart from passing the ball backwards a meter & half, lol. Play Australian Football, the best, most skillful & exciting game in the world, and Australia's national sport.
-
@notsofatmike1 Australian Rules Football is the oldest Football code in the world, older than Gaelic Football. It is not based on Gaelic Football, get your facts right.
-
@NRL1st AFL is the most popular winter sport in 4 States & the Northern Territory, compared to NRL which is only popular in 2. And AFL is more popular in NSW & QLD, than NRL is everywhere else.
AFL beat the NRL in the ratings this, but the main reason is because NRL has a lot games on sunday afternoon & night, while everyone is home. While AFL has prime time spots like Friday & Saturday night, while people are also out. AFL smashes the NRL in attendance.

AFL is the only sport where if you miss the goal you still score a point

@skoottar Last regular season NRL game I went to there was just over 18000 ppl with a max capacity of 20000. See in VIC (where I live now) you are never more than 2 hours from Melb unles you live in Echuca or up around Mildura. NSW and QLD are much bigger in size so it is a lot further for people to travel each week. But then again I make the trip up every year to NSW 2 or 3 times to go to the footy.

@thrillfreak7 The same could be said about a lot Victorians down here not knowing the rules to league. Hell most dont even know that union and league are 2 different codes. I had to explain to a DOCTOR that they are completely different codes of football. To me that is ignorant just as you say those QLDers are. They all think it is just 'rugby'

@toohey119 does it have to be 'the most popular sport' in all countries it is played in to be an 'international sport'? Soccer is the most international sport in the world but its not the most popular in ALL countries. I thought that the fact it is played in more than one country makes at an international sport. Unlike Austalian Rules Football which is based on Gaelic and is only played in one country.

@RLisTGG And now they just had their own coach and coaching staff poached lol
You stupid cunt I don't see how afl is a pussy sport considering how many more injuries there are in the AFL. How many dislocated shoulders, knees, KO's, and lost organs do you see happen in the nrl. Now look at how many MORE rapes, harrasment charges, people shoving their fingers up other players ass cracks are in the nrl... Those guys are real men aye. And lol you actually think there is a worse place than Sydney...

@lockyerwazere2011, WRONG. AFL players kick it a lot further than 15 metres to goal. It's more like 40-60 metres on average. NRL players may kick it that far and be seen as "amazing athletes" by supporters, but that's an AFL player's bread and butter.
