  • oo nga konta waray waray nga kanta para ok

  • Does anyone even remember that Can-avid was a one-time sister Municipality of the City of Makati? Higugmaa ta, aton ini... - does that sound familiar to anyone in Tagalog?

  • Thanks for posting this Gerry. I haven’t seen the face of Can-avid for a good ten years, and it is some comfort that it is progressing. But things have a way of rotting from within just like that big santol tree by the wall of our elementary school.

Hopefully, somebody will be able to restore our town into its former selfless grandeur…

  • Sadly, no one remembers or cares. I guess no one realizes that without these good people - our ancestors, we wouldn’t be able to vote for our own Mayor. We would still be voting for a Mayor in Dolores.

  • No Spaniard gave a decree for Can-avid to become a municipality. That part of our town’s history happened before the WWII, barrio Can-avid became a municipality of this Republic through the 1st Congress in June 15, 1948 (celebrated July 4) through the hard work and sacrifice of its people. It became a municipality purely through the will of its own citizens. Quite comparable to how our own country gained its independence from Spain and the Americas.

  • Can-avid became a municipality not simply because it was time. Unlike other municipalities our town became a municipality through the hard work and cooperation of its own citizens. People gave their lots, their houses and their services time and sweat just to complete the requirements of a municipality and sever its ties from the mother municipality - from the plaza grounds to the cemetery, to the school grounds.
