A quick Shot of Former British Railways Standard Class 4MT 4-6-0, no.75079 at Marsh Mills on the PVR. The Locomotive was rescued from Barry Scrap Yard and was taken to the Railway for restoration. Since this Shot was taken the Locomotive has been moved to the Mid-Hants Railway to have its restoration completed. for more information go to the Mid-Hants website at http://www.watercressline.co.uk.

  • i couldn't imagine there would be a great deal left to do.

  • There's more work than you'd think. Since the loco has moved to the Mid-Hants Railway the restoration should (eventually)be sped-up.

  • Restoration of what loco???

  • The engine is the last of 80 British Railway Standard Class 4 Loco's and was built in January 1956. They were Classed as 'Mixed Traffic' engines which means they were expected to haul anything from Light Express Passenger Trains to Slow Freights. It was withdrawn from BR service in November 1966 and sent to Barry Scrapyard where it was eventually rescued from.
