Pulse of the Port - Forward Linkages

Imports have a major positive impact on the economy. While many people thing of the consumer goods that come into the Port of Long Beach, also imported are semi-finished goods like paper, electronic parts, iron and steel, and organic chemicals. These semi-finished goods are used by U.S. manufacturers to make products. The "Forward Linkages" study found that more than 220,000 U.S. jobs are linked to just those four categories of imported goods.
