I spent a summer in Chatham on the Cape 20 years ago which isn't too far from P-town. It was a well known fact back then that P-town had a huge gay population. I'm not gay and neither were any of my friends but we went there often. It's a beautiful and fun place to hang out. Plenty of good restaurants & great nightlife. I remember it as kind of a beehive of activity.
If you have a problem with gay people, don't go there. P-town doesn't need visitors like that.

I regret not taking the time to appreciate more of Provincetown even though I live on the Cape. This video is a great tribute to its many plusses. Makes me want to hop in my car, brave the traffic, ... and be there to enjoy it.
