Here is a brief walkthrough of my guitar setup that I'm using. I've gotten a lot of emails and comments asking me what I use, so I did up this quick video. The amplifier is a Carvin V3, and you can check it out here:

All of my guitars are made of either poplar or mahogany. Basswood and alder just don't have that good thick sound in my opinion. Anyway, leave me a comment or ask me a question, and as always, be sure to check out:

  • get a sonic maximizer... works wonders on your tone... not that you need it haha but its totally worth it.

  • I had one of the rack mounted ones to try out for about a week. It totally killed my sound by removing the mid range. For some amps it works great, but it doesn't work so well for the Carvin V3. It's native tone (after changing the V1 slot preamp tube) is just so perfect for me, that I don't even like having an EQ anywhere in the signal path. This amp sounds best when it's raw.

  • i saw in another video i think you have a boss br900? do you ever have problems playbacking your recorded tracks on another cd player? sometimes mine recognises the tracks other times it dont.

  • I have an older model, a BR864. I think it's the same thing, it just doesn't have the built in CD burner. I wouldn't use it anyway, I always export the wav files to my computer and then run through a mixing and mastering program.

  • poor college student??? DUDE YOUR SHITS EXPENSIVE, lol

  • Well, I've been saving and collecting gear for a long time now. One thing I do is buy guitars that I find cheap, supe them up and sell them. That's how I've paid for most of my stuff.

  • @IntensityStorm What mixing and mastering program do you use? And how do you like it because I've been searching for a decent program.

    Thanks

  • thumbs up on the Rush shirt

  • you have great inspiration there! :)

  • Do you know where i can look at one the Carvin V3?

  • You built a computer? Thats awsome!

  • Looks cozy. You got good stuff. The V3 is a great amp. Funny you mention Chuck Schuldiner. I work on Shannon Hamms gear. He toured with Death for 3 years. Doesnt matter if your in a trailer or a Mansion. The music is in your hands

  • Can you switch on the reverb and change the channel of the amp with the press of one button? Is that possible with MIDI? I'm looking for a setup where I have an effects processor for effects and an amp for clean/distortion. Can I switch both processor and amp at the same time with MIDI?

  • nice noise suppressor dude =)
