Audio recording from the 2002 Crossroads show when Elton John and Ryan Adams performed together. They sang each other's songs, and here Elton does a beautiful job on this song from Ryan Adams's "Gold" album. Ryan played guitar, backing up his friend Elton on this version. This post is especially for JD.

  • elton can take any song and make it sound like an elton john song. Great performance, as is the entire CMT evening.

  • If I was ever given the choice to hear one more song in my life, and nothing ever again.. this would be the song.. EPIC, PRICELESS.. what a masterpiece! Genius

  • great song i love it

  • Brutal. Elton John should stick to wearing Donald Duck costumes while singing "Benny and the Jets".

  • Good lord this is fantastic...great version of a great song

  • @studovicmedia You know, I feel absolutely the same way. So beautiful, bring tears to my eyes. The first dance with my wife on our wedding day was to, Joan as Police Woman's "The Ride" but it should have been this song!

  • While I agree with elton1111 that Elton can take almost any good song and make it his own, the real magic here is that this matches a great singer and song interpreter in Elton with a fabulous singer songwriter in Ryan Adams. Ryans writing in the form of "Oh My Sweet Carolina" is what brough t these 2 together originally.

  • COOOL!!!

  • It's good that on both version they hold back on the vocals i think. They could both easily just go for it, but i think the song would lose a bit of it's charm without the witheld vocals. Tis beautiful and vulnerable this way.

  • I would have liked to here a 30-year-old Elton sing this in the upper vocal register. He was the Sh*t once upon a time.

  • @ShifulChoudhury ofcourse the version of ryan is beautiful as it is the authentic one, but i think elton did a great job to make this song his own.. he really put his own touch to it.. Exactly because of the fact that i really love this song i am curious about all the covers (with keeping the most beautiful original version of Ryan in mind).
