USSR was a State Capitalist country. That is why it went bankrupt, just as "Russia" will go bankrupt again. Just like USA and the entire global capitalist cabal is going bankrupt.
"Don't judge a book by its cover". The only true "socialism/communism" will come about when private ownership of any kind is abolished (i.e., money, corporations, banks, and especially governments), and common ownership is restored (what humankind had in most of its history before being forced to settle).

If the coup succeeded, the movie Air Force One would have had no basis for its plot, unless they wanted to go into alternate history. The coup was, indisputably, the beginning of the end of the USSR.
