thanks for your template. i have built a simular one of these and yes it works. i am living on ssi now, little money but built my own cnc, and coil winder. from junk yard stuff like old rc toys. i do want to point out that tesla, coils are simple and you do need to wind the coils corectly. USE YOUR tought electronon coil thery. the right hand rule. hint! not back and forth. the windings will cancle each other out ok. send me a message ill respond.

@ZeroFossilFuel I've only just heard about you Z, you seem like a top man thank you very much for doing what you do you are educating a lot of people. I noticed you mentioned a 'reactance chart' so i googled and found myself one, thanks again :)

Gee Zero, looks like the value(not price) of oil may drop.... I think your on it!
As E. B. White once remarked, " A despot doesn't fear eloquent writers preaching freedom - he fears a drunken poet who may crack a joke that will take hold"
Keep those hho bottles popping and we may laugh our way to freedom!

But could the motor drive under load something else for useful work and still be self running?

What material are the blotchwall balancing magnets? Might they cause a different resonance frequency? Just a thought...
Xl = 2 Pi f l
f would = 1/ (n (number of magnets) x rpms)
Xc=1/(2Pi fc)
Seeing as to resonate we need Xc & Xl to ballance then
c=Xl divided by (one on 2Pi fc)
Inductance of coil is L=un2A / l
but it would be easier to put a known voltage at a known frequency through the coil and calculate the Xl from the current Xl = Voltage / Current then L= Xl / (2 Pi F)
Have I got this right? Its been a while.

@ChrisPCrunchy It is easier to determine X of L using an oscillator. In fact, that's exactly how I derived it. Impedance at my target frequency is about 10 ohms.

@ZeroFossilFuel So from that you should be able to calculate exact capacitance to resonate with the inductance of your coils.

@ChrisPCrunchy It will get you close. Problem is that variable reluctance comes into play as the rotor magnets approach and recede. Lots of tweaking.

Well right now everyone is chasing after the idea of resonance. However,what is the rationale behind the thought that resonance will do something special? Where does this idea come from? What are the technical reasons for resonance doing something special? Who is the person that really stated this or is this just a collective thought or guess that has become a collective "truth?" It's easy to shoot the breeze about resonance but what are the real facts about and behind it?

@User2718218 Look at any musical instrument, especially wind instruments and think to yourself, how on Earth does one get so much out with so little in?
