The VIP´s ( die späteren THE ART und dann kultigen SPOOKY TOOTH) mit dem Granaten-Titel " I Wanna Be Free ".
Ein richtungsweisender Titel aus den 60er für mich. Ich sehe Mike Harrison noch damals in der Stadthalle Bremen ganz vorne am Bühnenmikro mit seinem Mundharmonika-Intro zu "Smokestack Lightning". Ein einziger Scheinwerfer auf ihn gerichtet. Wahnsinn.

Mike Harrison (greatest white R&B singer ever) sings this great song, Walter Johnstone on drums, Greg Ridley on bass, Jimmy Henshaw on lead, Frank Kenyon on rhythm. This great band (all from Cumbria) turned down Jimmy Hendrix and turned away 'Whiter Shade of Pale' the Procul Harem song. walter johnstone did play drums on this record. he's my grandfather and i know this for a fact!! booyahh!!

@Miwof . It was Mike Kellie who joined later, not Mike Harrison. Walter Johnstone was probably playing drums on this recording.

If this was recorded before Mike Harrison joined,
who is doing this strong vocals?
Also in my hometown this title was a "must" to play for every serious "Beat"-group ~67/68.

i never got this graet song which remind me my teen age for loading on the "mytic Kaaza" and so i have pleasure to find and listen it on "You tube", my regret concern the caracter "not recording" of this song on this support.

This band was popular in the French underground scene and several EPs have been issued here. This song kicks ass : Great singing, great guitar. Thanks for uploading.
