The antenna is not for the FM transmitter, but for the live traffic.

This is my 3rd gps unit I have had in my life. I like this device. I have "brightness" turned up all the way and "backlight always on" under system settings for daylight issues although its not good for battery life. Use bluetooth constantly even when not using it for directions. Auto connect works with mine great. The bad... I find the fm transmitter lacking clarity so I don't use but I like the idea of it.

Don't take her word that it is "supercool". I bought it and was so deceived by this expensive gadget. There are so many things disagreeable with this device, including (1) uneeded high resolution 800x680 shows too much map details, (2) no bell ringing (3) the speaker's awful english in which every car turn is announced as "take a (right or left)". (4) speaker's voice is weak and not clear . The new 4700 addresses the aforegoing problems & cost less. The old 4250 is better.
