Shows current Ail-as-Flaps with elevator compensation and transition to "Tailerons" when flaps are down. This mixing as shown is tested, flown, and works great along with the thrust vectoring vanes located in the tailcones and coupled to the "Tailerons". Ultra tight loops and tumbles are easy with this setup. It also has "differential throttle" where the fan throttles are mixed with rudder to help with wing-overs etc.

  • Your elevator to flap mixing is reversed! Don't you want to have elevator down when flaps go down

  • @stikmunkey You would think so, BUT, if you watch the maiden video I posted of this plane with mixing as you describe, it crashes immediately! It turns out that with a swept wing like this, dropping the aileron-flaps acts as major DOWN elevator. The mixed up elevator compensation is needed to keep the plane flying level as the flaps are dropped. Trust me, this works as shown!

  • @RemE14MZ That's because those are not flaps but flaperons. Usually a flap is located on the inside of the wing. Using ailerons as flaps makes the plane behave a lot different.

  • @Juary70 Yes these are flaperons, but how they act when dropped regarding the required elevator trim change needed (needing up elevator vs down elevator) is a function of the center of pressure. Swept/delta wings mixed this way need up elevator. A more conventional wing like a Cessna type plane needs down elevator when flaperons are dropped. I've tested this in many planes now.
