  • Its been six months now since I asked, Can anyone provide even a single article from a serious journal or a paper from a juried conference that documents a link between the use of MI in school and improved performance?

No one has provided even ONE of these.

I dont intend this as a criticism of those who discuss MI (thats important); rather, its an accurate picture of the lack of valid support for MI.

  • as the great and infallible Dick Cheney once said -

"The absence of evidence isn't the same as evidence of absence. "

  • @mutefish Actually in the scientific community the quote is most commonly attributed to Carl Sagan who used it in his famous "Baloney Detection Kit" An apt tool for considering MI claims.

But your point Are you conceding that MI has no research base? If so, what principle should we use when deciding upon curriculum? Scientific rigor has given us amazing advances in engineering, aeronautics, medicine, etc. Should what/how we teach be held to a lower standard? Do school children deserve less?

  • @chrishmca ill stick to crediting Cheney. i haven't researched whether MI has a research base and don't care to. becuase im not making school policy nor am i a propagandist for MI. it seems obvious to me that some people have greater capacities in one area or another.

the primary problem with schools is that their only real goal is to engender respect for authority and a pattern of submitting to bureaucratic rule. unless you go to an elite school where you are trained to harvest the crop.

  • for an overall better response watch out for small typos like intelligence.

  • Can anyone provide even a single article from a serious journal or a juried conference paper that documents a link between the use of MI in school and improved performance? Im talking about observations of real school children & tasks.

Self-proclaimed educational consultants (mainly uninformed school-hustling, pedagogy pimps) take thousands of dollars from schools and claim that MI can help schools and children and offer no support for this claim. Can anyone cite ANY VALID evidence?

  • Fat Buddha is Chinese Buddha. Siddhartha Buddha is Regular Indian Buddha.

  • as somebody who can really understand people it seems that most people are severely lacking in interpersonal intelligence regardless of their other intelligences

  • are you implying that fake breasts are made from stinging nettles? sounds appropriately ironic.
