Hear this song on Regina's new album, "Far," releasing on June 23, 2009.
***

Regina Spektor singing One More Time With Feeling @ McCarren Park Pool in Brooklyn, NY on August 15th, 2008.

Lots of noise in this recording, unfortunately, because this is such a great song... but I figure some people will still want to hear it. All the commotion started when some people starting putting up their umbrellas and then some other people started yelling at them because they could no longer see in front of them.

--

Your stitches are all out, but your scars are healing wrong
And the helium balloon inside your room has come undone
And it's pushing up at the ceiling and the flickering lights it cannot get beyond

Oh, everyone takes turns, now it's yours to play the part
And they're sitting all around you holding copies of your chart
And the misery inside their eyes is synchronized reflecting into yours

Hold on
One more time with feeling
Try it again
Breathing's just a rhythm
Say it in your mind until you know that the words are right
This is why we fight

You thought by now you'd be so much better than you are
You thought by now they'd see that you had come so far
And the pride inside their eyes would synchronize into a love you'll never know
So much more than you can show

Hold on
One more time with feeling
Try it again
Breathing's just a rhythm
Say it in your mind until you know that the words are right
This is why we fight
This is why we fight

  • I wish they would just shut the hell up._.

  • I know, it sucked. :\ She was absolutely incredible that night, as usual. I should have gone up front but it was not noisy around me beforehand, then it got very crowded and started pouring.

I don't understand how people could be so damn rude, but it happens... Luckily though, it seems that Regina couldn't hear the noise, as it seemed to only be noisy in that one area.

I will make up for it next time, promise :P

  • the crowd is so fucking obnoxious.

    wow.

  • Yeah the area I was standing in happened to suck. I don't think it sounded like this from most other perspectives.

  • @slicknick1986 I think they may have been booing the guy with the umbrella/the rain... not Regina... but I'm not sure. Just saying that's what it sounds like. But they were still rude.

  • Booing Regina should result in a swift smack across the mouth.

  • Drunk is not an excuse.

  • These people disgust me.

  • I'm so glad that she wasn't able to hear the booing (according to people who were in front). She always sounds amazing, but this version is so beautiful...

  • dumb? hmm, uneducated, I would say, I mean, who teaches their kids manners anymore? But yeah, there also a lot of dumb people, I have to agree with that, sadly, a lot of the dumb people were educated in elite schools. Go figure.

  • alot of people are really, really dumb. It's a sad fact of life!

  • despite the incredibly RUDE people this is one of my favorite favorite versions of regina singing this song!

  • ugh this makes me very sad. regina is better than these stupid ppl...

  • Ahhh I really can't stand to hear this song, with all that damn people. I've had people boo-ing me on stage too and it really sucks.

And aarrrgh, this is such such such an amazing song.

  • actually i got there about half an hour before they opened up and i managed to get to the front row before regina came on ^_^ I took advantage of the fact that the rain caused people to huddle up under umbrella's leaving space to just walk right passed them

  • the whole yelling at "pops" kinda goes along with the moral of the song :p

  • yeah, most of the crowd was pretty loud. and then on this song, they clap tempo. I so badly wish they hadn't. Regina was amazing that night.

  • I was right up at the front and everyone was quiet. That's what getting there hours in advance will get you i guess.

  • There's a great deal of envy in the world. In fact, I would say that if human kind were to be wiped off the face of the earth, and an entry was put into a galactic encyclopedia about the human race it would read..."Human Species. A once narcissistic and envious animal with self-destructive tendencies."

This song is beautiful, and contrasts with the ugliness of those mocking it. In the garden of eden, the forbidden fruit revealed to us not good and evil but beauty and ugliness, in hebrew.

  • thats good! therefore regina probably didnt hear these assholes

  • Wow it's such a shame that the audience is full of dicks on this. She sounds more amazing than ever here and I wish there were a recording of this particular performance without the ambiance.

  • ohh the umbrella incident.

the people that shouted were not that far behind me and it was really annoying.

  • I was at that Bogarts show! I felt really bad that the people around me were all so loud.

  • i was there too. I was almost right in front of the barrier and i heard nothing but regina's beautiful voice. Absolutely loved this song it was the first time i heard it
