I have another K-3 loading video on YouTube. Without loop formers.

  • Does anyone know, where or how one could install a hand crank for this camera? I remember seeing them on ebay about 5 years ago.

  • @urfavjackass1 there are some daylight films that you can actually load in bright environments. But that is meant to be loaded in normal room light conditions so that you can see what you're doing (so better not in full bright sunlight). A super16 modified camera isn't different to load since only the gate has been widened and is exposing more of the films edge so it is native 16:9 aspect ratio. The loading is the same as with any other normal 16mm camera.

  • @Djinga Nope. This camera doesn't record sound as optical sound onto the film. You need a fieldrecorder or at least something that records sound like a cassette recorder or a minidisc walkman for example a flash recorder like the Zoom H2.

  • looks super easy :)

If you're not double lefthanded i think everyone can do that.

  • How much would you say it cost to buy the film and get it processed and telecine and everything for each 100 ft.

I would be interested in buying a K3 or another cheap 16mm and filming shorts with it.

  • Does this camera record sound ?

  • I am having the hardest time loading film in this camera. It doesn't "catch" or move forward when I insert the beginning of the film into where it is supposed to catch. Anyways, I did it manually and now it moves forward because of the registration pin but the film does not form near the form loops. It basically "forms" at the edge of the pressure plate. I am so frustrated by this camera.

  • do you have to load this in total darkness or can you do it in a darkroom? i just bought a krasnogorsk that's upgraded to super 16, how would loading it be different from this?

  • is it possible to shoot a decent roll without use of the lightmeter?

  • A spool is 100 feet. 16mm film has 40 frames per foot. At 24 frames per second shooting speed, you get 4000/24 seconds of filming (166.7 seconds), which is 2 minutes and 46 seconds.
