Well, actually, I find it that for words that have things like san or sama, and any of the kind attached to the pronoun or sustantive of the person should not be translated, because they're like hyphens, they don't read in the wrong way, however not translating things like "nakama" seems absurd to me. Also, whenever there are important objects or "powers" from characters I think it doesn't bother people to leave it like that, not translated, it actually is nice.
Is it weird I read every single thing?! XDD I just love learning....this was more of a japanese learning video to me! LAWL thats why i like the new subs....makes me feel smart and i don't mind pausing my anime for about 30 seconds so i can read everything.
No, subtitles at the very bottom of the screen suck, It's better to have them raised a bit so that viewers don't have to bounce their eyes between the main part of the screen and the very bottom where the subtitles are. There's a reason DVD subs aren't at the very bottom of the screen, and it's not "for the hell of it."
maybe because...... people are starting to learn some of the japanese culture so... saying Chan or San or Kun or what ever that comes next hahaha seems ok now and that people don't mind but study bug and pointy air, now thats new. Perhaps its a new way for us to tease our fellow pointy hair friends "AHOGE!!!" haha :P
This is true - simple wordplay can usually be worked around pretty well, but when visual gags or jokes playing off established character names and the like are brought into the picture, the joke can end up completely untranslatable. Translation notes shouldn't be used unless there's absolutely no other way to work around the joke, but the mere presence of them don't make the fansub of unacceptable quality. Just keep them to a minimum.
Vert well explianed, however I do not agree with many point, people who watch anime just have to hold the space bar to read the explanation and fansubber aren't doin' that to "show they're culture', they do it generaly because they love Japanese culture and want to share this with people.
