2010-01-06 Yun Zi SLIDES Down the Log!

San Diego Zoo: 22 week old Panda cub Yun Zi was all about achieving milestones today! He slid down the log off the platform in the Garden Room. Watch how he really tries to do it the right way, i.e. backwards, but he winds up sliding down the log like it was a staircase banister! Mary, we are absolutely, positively the luckiest people!! This is the first cutie I've followed on a daily basis from birth and each and every day has been a joy and a blessing! The San Diego Zoo does such an outstanding job taking care of their pandas as well as us viewers!!

Isn't that frustrating! I have the recorder running at all times because I never know when something novel or truly entertaining will happen! Those are the Yun Zi moments I love to share as it would break my heart to miss them, so I know how others feel!!

Helen, isn't he wonderful to watch as he figures things out ~ he is relentless when faced with a new challenge!! It just seems like yesterday he was spending all his time in the den! 'Our" little boy is growing up!

Yes Rita I can!! He's still in the Classroom Exhibit where all the outdoor play scenes have been!! I expect we'll be seeing some better footage when the lucky people that attended the debut start posting their photos and videos!

Oh, I'm so sorry!! Everyone said they wanted to get there early, but by 9:00 he was asleep in the hammock! It wasn't until about 10:30 that Bai took him from the hammock and all the 'action' began!!

I REALLY look forward to seeing everyone's photos! Let us know where to find them, okay?

I think so too as Bai is an amazing and devoted mom!! She seems to know when he needs her, or when she needs to leave him alone to figure something out on his own!!

You're so welcome Widget!! (Shhh, I talk to him too!!!) He's figuring it out, piece by piece, and gaining confidence and agility!! "Our' baby is growing up!!! Eeks! LOL!

Once down he had a lot of fun climbing the structure in the Garden Room, and playing with Bai's boo, and climbing on the log at the base of the structure!!!

Then they went back up to the platform and slept for quite awhile!!
