    maybe someone knows which sutra it is, they can be found translated in many books.

  • it sounds very diferent than tibetan chants

  • i love this! the Temple is called Tenryu-Ji it is a Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto. arigato gozaimasu!

  • Interesting how it differs from the Tibetan chants.

  • Generally these recitations are sutras(texts containing teachings of the buddha) ghatas(hymns in praise of three jewels). it's recited to control and pacify the mind, leading it to more propitious state for the buddhist practice and remind the buddhist teachings. keep in your mind that it's not japanese, but archaich chinese being recited into japanese phonology, making this very hard to understand just by ears!
