Ron Paul Speaks at the College of Charleston -- South Carolina Republican Primary

Republican presidential candidate Congressman Ron Paul recently participated in College of Charleston's "The Bully Pulpit Series: Reflections on Presidential Communication" on January 19, 2012. Paul's speech was free and open to the public and was held in the Stern Center Garden at 11 a.m.

Ron Paul was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Gettysburg College and the Duke University School of Medicine, before serving as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force during the 1960s. He and his wife Carol moved to Texas in 1968, where he began his medical practice in Brazoria County..

As a member of the United State Congress in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Paul served on the House Banking committee. In 1984, he voluntarily relinquished his House seat and returned to hi.

Dr. Paul is the author of several books, including The Revolution: A Manifesto, End the Fed, Liberty Defined, Challenge to Liberty; The Case for Gold; and A Republic, If You Can Keep It.

"The Bully Pulpit Series: Reflections on Presidential Communication" asks the individual presidential candidates to speak with students and Charleston community members on such topics as the frequency of press conferences, the candidate's relationship with journalists, and the power of the president to persuade. This non-partisan series is a joint effort of the College's Department of Communication and the Department of Communication Advisory Council.
