  • You obviously are a skilled player, but I can't say I like your tone at all. Plus, you are playing a too loud of a volume compared to the song, making if difficult to hear how well your note choices relate to the chords. Finally, there is just something very wrong with you playing another solo over the top of Mikael Åkerfeldt's absolutely brilliant solo.

  • Don't get me wrong, this is just practice using pp tree as a backtrack to do my own thing, ya know stretching the fingers and getting the creative juices flowing. No one to jam with that week. Porcupine Tree is great stuff but I'm not trying to play it or improve on it. Anyway , thanks for the comments

  • Dude, what model of schecter is that? it's sexy.

    c1 classic series?

  • Ya, 30th anniversary, but I just sold it to a buddy a couple days ago!

  • Great job! You expressed your creativity on an existing piece of work and even added value.

    Keep on goin'.

    Cheers.

  • Thanks LionTrace !!

  • Killer axe dude, check out mine I have a couple of schecter limited ed. I'm gonna buy the 35th anniv. c-1 black!

  • Nice, but you completely lost the whole feeling and meaning of the song. When improvising to something, try to keep the original emotion and feeling and embody it in your improvisation. You turned a mellow, almost depressing song into an action-race. In context, your notes are clean, fast and steady. The solos in the song are almost out of sync, played with slow, deep emotion and gritting bends that tear your heart. Both are equally good, just try to choose a style more fitting to the song.

  • hey mann awesome playing! would you recommend this over the schecter c1 hellraiser

    thanks:) x

  • @darrenedesignedu

I'm well aware of the fact that Mikael Akerfeldt isn't in PT. However, he DOES appear as a guest (vocals, guitar) on Deadwing, including playing that terrific mellow solo in Arriving Somewhere, but Not Here.

Perhaps you should know what you're talking about before you criticize somebody who does.

Go to PT's wikipedia page for the Deadwing album if you don't believe me.

  • @MyUserName877 mikeal akerfeldt isn't in porcupine tree. thumbs down.
