Moody Blues are simply the best. Clean vocals, mind-bending lyrics, lovely melodies, and so much more. I have been enjoying Moody Blues for over 40 years; hope I have another 40 left to continue enjoying them.

Just music (forget lyrics) : some does - the music where the young performers also write the songs and play the instruments, and exclude electronic instruments and computerized metronomes, gets close. To find it, you have to listen to college & university radio stations. But even then the music now isnt as great - sound engineers process for digital, not analog, so much feeling is lost.

Its political. Listeners who know the Moodies, know other progrock greats - King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis, Gentle Giant, Rush. The Moodies were eligible since 1991, Floyd since 1990. Floyd should have been a no-brainer, but took until 1996. Yes should have been a no-brainer - still not there!!! Rush in 2013.

Only Nights in White Satin was on *The 660 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll*. A song thats great, but doesnt reflect the Moodies. I could name 5 better choices. Thats why *not yet*

Captain my tricorders picking up new findings down on planet in Earth's recent

defunked corporate rock era. Possibility of intelligence detected. finding: segueing

out of the reprise final vocal stanza that sounds as if it was dubbed in months later.

Note the bass climbing up into the altisimo register, repeating one note, and resigning command temporarily of the bass frequency register by blending,,

..literaly hiding within the guitars register simultaneously as the honky tonk banging upright's bass frequency is boosted at the mixing board via a mic most likely positioned inches from the bass strings to capture the jamming A minor boogie bass in the left hand. Send message immediately to Starfleet command... Preplanning, commeradery and collusion between bass player, guitarists and sound man in an otherwise typically perennially egotistically at war style of band and music. ingenuous.

I agree with what George Martin recently stated right here on YouTube; "The Moody Blues Are Criminally Underrated."
