Meet 16-year-old Brittney. She's an honor roll student, star soccer player and your typical all-American teenager...until, that is, she got pregnant. What does a teen that had such a promising future do now?  Barely old enough to drive, this teen is facing a life changing situation. Tough decisions need to be made and hard questions need to be asked.  Dr. Phil sits down with Brittney and tackles a subject that has been making headlines and is on the rise  teen pregnancy and the real consequences that come with it. Be there with Brittney's family as they endure struggles, fears and doubts, and consider how you would react as a parent in the same situation. • @TheRoflWoffle Parents don't have children to become more responsible. They become responsible so they can have children and be good parents or at least that is what should be happening. I get both cons and pros of abortion, would I ever choose it no. But would I make that choice for someone else, no. If she does't want mommy and daddys opinion then maybe she should support herself.

  • @Tetzukai Okay, I don't quite follow you about the afterlife. I didn't mean something about spiritual stuff when I said 'consciousness'. To me, a living creature is a form of life that can experience pain and emotions. A youg fetus is nothing more than an organism: it is simply there without even knowing it. We are also organisms, but we are aware of our existence: we can feel and experience things that a young fetus can't and that's the difference. I think we'll have to agree to disagree.

  • There isn't even any proof yet that a consciousness entails some type of afterlife or something spiritual or religious, which seems to be a very big establishment of consciousness besides measuring value and understanding and how even that is going to matter in regards to a creature with no conscious. It's all the same is what I am saying regardless.

  • I'm not saying consciousness doesn't matter, I just disagree that you need to make an exception for something that's an organism as us. You don't need a conscious just to make the circumstances that you ended an organism to play the game of life and that's where I was getting at.

  • @Kzinix Just because I have a conscious, doesn't mean I am more alive and don't play the life game than a damn plant, a fungus, a sponge, an anthropod, or anything else that we're not sure that has something we call a conscious and that's also an organism. Especially the emptiness I see in other people that act like hypocrites and robots and usage of the substances that destroys their brain.

  • @Tetzukai Of course human beings are living organisms, but they have feelings. They are are more than organisms: they have a consciousness. Plants are also organisms, but they don't have feelings or thoughts. A young fetus doesn't have these things as well, therefore it isn't more than just an organism. If you think any living organism gets 'killed' when it is removed, you also agree that destroying plants and cells is murder. That doesn't make sense, there's a limit to the definition of murder.

  • @Kzinix It's a living organism regardless and if you do something detrimental to it, you're going to kill it. Human beings are also organisms.

  • @Tetzukai I disagree with you. According to your definition ("Whether it is sentient or not, a killing is a killing") picking flowers would also be murder. A living creature is in my eyes something that can experience pain, emotions and maybe also certain thoughts. A young fetus doesn't fulfil any of these conditions. I understand where you're coming from, but I can't call every abortion murder. I think a young fetus isn't equal to an actual human being, I see a young fetus as just an organism.

  • @narutopanda336 "everyone wants a chance at life"

Says who, the pathetic, crude replicating DNA you have or the stupid book we call the Bible? Or just the bias, subjective opinion of a person? Just because the world has problems doesn't give anyone a reason to do something as stupid as breeding and that we wouldn't imposes those problems on a baby.

  • @Kzinix They want a chance at life because the were forced to and that there are many thing out there that would contradict that chance... yeah...

Whether it is sentient or not, a killing is a killing.
