PRESENTED BY TOM MILLETT
Brian Brody was born and raised in Ballyfermont and Nielstown (Clondalkin) in Dublin. After leaving school at the age of 14 he was involved in a heavy metal trio, singing and playing guitar. At 17 Brian moved into Dublin's city centre and got involved with bands from all over Dublin. One of which was a band called "The Pale". At the time Brian was focusing more on a solo project but when asked to join "The Pale", he felt it was an offer he couldn't refuse and went on to mature and develop as a stronger songwriter and musician. When his relationship finished with "The Pale", Brian set up a 5 piece band called "Black Cabaret". This was in conjunction with a wild show he put together called "Dublin by Da Da". It was performed at Dublin's Vicar Street with great success, thus giving Brian more respect from fellow performers of all genres. Due to exhaustion, brought on in part by Brian's excessive nature for partying, he felt the need to get out of Dublin and the wirlwind he was in. He moved to Barcelona in 2001 and would remain there for a year. As he did not speak spanish, Brian started singing in irish pubs which proved to be very valuable to his survival there and kept him singing and playing. Brian returned to Dublin in 2002 and became front man for the electronic outfit "White Trash Girls". They played many successful gigs around Ireland, including an acclaimed performance at the Wittness music festival in 2003 (now Oxygen). Brian has now completed his new project - " black romance " which is being exclusively performed, for the time being, in dublin. It features the talented singing of Una O'Boyle and Miriam Ingram. The muisc is written with a divine approach in mind, supported by the amazing Japanese Irish harpist Junshi Murakami and guitarist Ken Brown.
