As in all our public videos we try to share simple direct, effective primal gross motor based tactics that at first appear as 'common-sense' but in reality aren't, they are uncommon sense - functional for anyone caught in a confrontation.
Excellent advice. I actually did that once (but without the sweet SPEAR form,I just kicked the door, cracked the passenger through his open window as he opened the door, and flashed thee ole 4.3 speed).
Good video Tony. This is just a good example of how you end up in different situations sometimes. To all of those people who want to Monday morning quarterback- remember that not all things are as you want in the street. What if you are on a traffic stop and another car pulls up? What if you are walking out to your car and someone cuts you ff and tries to get out? Like everything else that Tony teaches- this is just another tool.
Hey "teamhandjob1" I believe the focus of this video is not from the law enforcement stand point but from a selfdefense stand point. For example, you're walking down the street and someone stops their vehicle behind you as shown here. This is for the "average person" as he states in the video not the law enforcement professional.
Police defensive tactics refer to that position outside a car as a "suicide spot". Consider nowadays many people are armed, you NEVER place yourself in such a vulnerable spot so easy to get shot by a passenger. Passengers should always be made to be uncomfortable, needing to look back and over their shoulders. Stand there and you're an easy target.Bad advice, you should rethink this one.
Daltonsbadboy, Pay closer attention to the video. Tony tells you to flee the scene. Sound advice. If the person was a turd, and you really felt threatened, AND you leave the scene, it is highly unlikely he tries to report it to the cops. I only speak from nine years experience as a police officer. I only see good people get screwed when they stick around and the bad guy tries to play victim to the police. I'm all for good people jacking up bad guys and leavin the scene. Makes my job easier. :-)

I do respect your contribution to RBC/CQC...just thinking of the consequnces of slamming the door on someones legg without probable cause...anytime there is an encounter we need to address post conflict...I am old school, and my Motto is "I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6", surely we must weigh the consequnce of no action vs action per each encounter. Thank you for sharring and allowing me to post my comments.
Tony, I would be concerned with use of force...though the verbal exchange may be heated, in court the burden would be for you to prove your were in danger/threat of attack to your person...a verbal exchange might not qaulify for injuring his knee/leg, you may go to jail and/or have to pay for his care. Of course, if he were to say I'm going to kill you or make a verbal threat of harm you may be justified. Just a thought
but you dont know his intention!!

Tony is the truth people. His thinking is always 2-3 steps ahead of the conflict.
Great stuff as always. I'm glad I attended one of his workshops. To this day it's one of the best I've ever been to.
