Please note: This 'kinescope' recording was originally made in 1954 by filming the picture from a live video monitor. The picture quality - especially sharpness - is much lower than the rest of our footage produced on 16mm film. KGO-TV documentary about San Francisco State College, made as part of their series 'Success Story'. Emcee Bob Day visits the new Lake Merced Campus during the college's dedication week in October 1954, interviewing numerous members of faculty about the latest classes now available to students. Includes scenes of drama students staging Shakespeare's Richard III and an address from President J. Paul Leonard, who states: "This telecast tonight shows you the breadth of our program. In all of our curricula we give our students the tools with which to work and we give them also the liberal arts they need in order to understand how to use those tools." This program was directed by Willard Davis.
