I think one of the cutest aspects of this movie is that they never kiss. Their love isnt portrayed as a burning passion of two bodies but a yearning desire of two souls. Lots of people nowadays should listen to the hidden messages of this movie. but just imagine the reputation of someone back then partying with guys and girls all night, having one night stands ect people would avoid them, not encourage and look up to them.

I love how well suited the music is to this scene, it builds so beautifuly!

@OreadNYC still think it's more romantic this way xD But you're right of course. I always think it's weird that in movies that play in really old times at the end, the woman and the man sometimes kiss on the street and I don't think you were supposed to do that either...

@WhisperzIshBored -- It's not necessarily more *romantic*, but it certainly is more authentic. Jane Austen was actually not especially romantic herself, and despite the fact that she was a clergyman's daughter, she was definitely not what people back then called a "milk and water miss" (as the surviving letters to her sister attest)! However, I have a feeling that if she could see this scene, she'd have a fit (especially since this is not the way it happens in the book).

@OreadNYC yeah yeah yeah, it's more romantic that way isn't it?

Actually, based on the standards of the time, this encounter would be not only be considered improper in the extreme but positively scandalous. Back then, an unmarried woman of the gentry would have ruined her reputation beyond all hope of repair if she had been discovered with a man (no matter how accidental the meeting) in the early hours of the morning with her hair down and clad only in her nightgown and a coat!

this was the only scene in the whole movie i liked and it didn't make ant sense what so ever. she just happens to get up at dawn to go for a wander through the mist on the same morning that he too decides to get up and go for a wander in the mist at dawn, at her house, with his shirt undone in a very ungentlemanly but yummo way. ah, but dont i love this scene for that very reason

random: in the 1980 miniseries version, there was practically no romance. i highly dislike/hate that movie series
"You have bewitched me body and soul, and I love... I love... I love you "<3 I love this movie so much! I want a Mr. Darcy to come walking towards me in the fog and tell me that he loves me!
